"Whatever You're Facing" Annie, OIC

"Whatever You're Facing"

Luke 22: 61-62 ( notes taken from The Confident Woman Devotional)

The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him saying, "before the cock crows thrice this day you will deny me." Then Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Bitterly means with painful greif. Jesus told Peter that he would deny him. Peter denied that he would. When Peter was recoginized as a follower of Jesus he became fearful. He did not know how to respond as seeing his Lord in chains was more than he could bear. Even though the Lord warned him he did not listen. We are not so different today, we think we are. We judge the first church but are we any stronger or more confident in our trials I think not. They sold all they had and distributed it among each other. They lived together and prayed together. Do we. I think we could learn of them more than we have. Are we as the body of Christ listening to him today? Or are we like Peter and say, not me Lord, I would never. I think we should be very careful in the day and hour we are living in. We need to humble ourselves and say,"speak Lord, for thy servent is listening."When we see trails and tribulations all around us we too become fearful. Remember that God is not a man that he should lie. So listen today if he is warning you about something, say Lord what should I do about this?
Lord Jesus, In reading about Peters' denial I know I am not so different from him. I humble myself before you today and ask for wisdom and discernment, strength in times of fear. Help me to be still and listen to your still small voice. Help me not to be presumptuious and fearful of your Holy Spirit. Give me strength and courage, boldness to face whatevers coming in this day and hour we are living in. In Jesus name I pray amen.
